Let's start with the VFX 's (visual effects) that the movie presents. The visual effects that are presented in this movie is arguably the main thing the movie has going for it. James Wan, the director of the film, does a great job transporting viewers into Atlantis and all the other reaches of the world that Aquaman and Mera go to. My favorite scene in the movie was by far when Aquaman and Mera are trying to escape the trench by diving deep into the ocean with the flare as a light source. Wan's style of moving the camera angle from a broad view to Aquaman's perspective was amazing. Another scene that was pretty dope was when Arthur and Mera went to Sicily, Italy. The way the camera showed the city was beautiful.
Like I said before in the spoiler-free review, there were some plot holes in the film. For example, how come Mera is the only Atlantean with the ability to control water? Also, how is it that Mera can breathe on land even though she's lived in water her whole life, yet none of the other Atlanteans can breathe on land? The only way they could survive on land is with the helmets with water in them. Although the plot holes were minor, they still bothered me.
Honestly, this movie is pretty great. Like I said before, if DC makes more movies like Aquaman, there might still be hope for the DCEU after all.
