With the close of 2019, I thought it would be a good idea to share the Top Ten Best Movies of 2019 in my opinion. All of these movies on this list are movies that I found were really really good or that hit me on a personal level. Some of these movies might have reviews for them on this website while others not.

10.) Fighting With My Family

This movie was produced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and centers around a family whose obsessed with WWE and RAW and how one girl tries to make a name for herself. It is extremely funny and also surprised me as it was very heartwarming.

9.) Gully Boy

This Bollywood film about an aspiring rapper trying to get famous in the slums of India is an uplifting film with amazing songs, even better acting, and an inspiring tone, Gully Boy is definitely worth watching.

8.) The Farewell

The Farewell is a movie with a plot that is so ridiculous yet is based on a true story at the same time. It's about a girl who figures out her grandma is dying and instead of telling her the family fakes a wedding so they can say goodbye to the grandma one last time. This is arguably Awkwafina's best film and delivers gut-punching and heart-wrenching moments yet is extremely comedic at the same time.

7.) Toy Story 4

Most people think that the sequels are never as good as the original and while that's most of the time true, in the case of Toy Story 4, you can make a pretty strong case against that point. While having fun with Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the toys, it's very hard not to shed some tears as you bid farewell to your childhood. Regardless, Toy Story 4 does an excellent job of finishing a franchise that formed our childhoods.

6.) Shazam

With the last couple of superhero films being so heavy and grim, it felt extremely refreshing having a film with this much comedic relief. Shazam is everything you want from a superhero film with the action and the comedy plus it has touching moments regarding family to make a superhero movie that never gets boring.

5.) The Peanut Butter Falcon

This movie has some of the most heartwarming moments of 2019 as it follows a man with down syndrome named Zach as he tries to pursue his dreams as a wrestler with the help of Shia LeBoeuf's character Tyler. Throughout their journey, you as the audience extremely emotionally attached to the duo and you feel like you're there with them overcoming the hardships and celebrating their victories which is one of the best things a movie can do.

4.) Ford v Ferrari

Even if you're not a car fan you'll enjoy this movie as much as I did as Christian Bale and Matt Damon kill it as they try and beat Ferrari in the infamous 24 hours of Le Mans race. Together, Bale and Damon deliver one of the best performances of their careers and their chemistry is outstanding which produces a fast-paced, and charming film.

3.) The Sky is Pink

This movie really surprised me as it connected with me in a way not many films can. It follows the parents of a girl that suffers from a terminal disease and how this affects their marriage and their lives in general. You feel for both the mom and the dad as they deal with their sadness in their own way and the movie does a really good job maintaining a positive vibe throughout the entirety of the film.

2.) Avengers: Endgame

Of course, I had to include the number one must-watch blockbuster of the year on this list. Endgame provided the best conclusion to the best franchise the movie industry and the world have ever seen. It has everything from aliens to time-travel and in the end, provides an extremely satisfying conclusion to a saga that has impacted everyone.

Honorable Mentions:

Knives Out

Ad Astra

Spider-Man: Far From Home

1.) Joker

Joker is the number one best movie of 2019 by far. Joaquin Phoenix carried the role of the Clown Prince as he shows everything leading up to the psychopath we all know today. It shows how this man crumbled under the pressure of the society he lived in and what happens to someone who has had enough with his life. Joker delivers in all aspects and made me want the film to never end.

As I said before, every movie on this list is based on my opinion and I obviously didn't get to see every movie that came out this year. I would also like to give a huge thanks to everyone who reads my blog as I love to share my love of movies with you guys. I am looking forward to the next year of movies!!
